The London Battersea Heliport is the only heliport approved by the CAA in the capital. The heliport has actually been in operation since 1959, being built originally to serve local business and commerce. It now also supports local emergency services such as the Air Ambulance and Police Air Support units.
The City of London floating helipad at Trigg Lane was closed in 1985, leaving London Battersea Heliport, located on the River Thames between Battersea and Wandsworth bridges, as the only CAA license heliport serving the City of London.
